Oxygen Concentrator
An Oxygen Concentrator is an oxygen making machine, used as a stationary unit for home oxygen delivery.
It is powered by electricty and delivers between 0 to 5 litres per minute of oxygen. The concentrator takes the room air and "concentrates" the oxygen into approximately 98% oxygen. The unit has a compressor that makes a soft, "swooshing" noise at regular intervals. Up to 75 feet of oxygen tubing can be attached to allow maxium mobility in the home. Oxygen Concentrators can be easily moved from one location to another, by rolling on the attached wheels. These units are used with either a nasal cannula or oxygen mask, depending on your doctor's prescription.
The concentrator alarm can sound for a various range of reasons, including, but not limited to, power failure, high or low pressure, high temperature, battery test, or low concentration. If the alarm sounds, please address the issue immediately by contacting our office so we can help troubleshoot the problem with you.
This is the most common form of home oxygen equipment. Portable tank systems accompany the home concentrator for use outside in ambulation.
